Did you know that your old glasses can help change lives around the world? Lions Recycle for Sight Australia, part of the Lions Clubs’ incredible community service network, is a powerful initiative that not only restores vision to those in need but also helps reduce environmental waste.

At Yarra Junction Optical, we’re proud to support this meaningful program and invite our local community to join us in giving the gift of sight.

Giving the World a Clearer View

For over 20 years, Lions Recycle for Sight has been collecting, refurbishing, and redistributing used spectacles to people in developing countries who lack access to basic eye care. Nearly 20 million pairs of glasses have already been donated—offering improved vision to students, workers, and families around the globe.

Instead of ending up in landfill, your unused glasses can give someone the opportunity to read, learn, work, and live a better life.

How the Program Works

Across Australia, Lions Clubs, optometrists, and local community groups collaborate to collect donated eyeglasses. Once received, the glasses are sent to the Lions Recycle Centre, where they are:

• Carefully sorted and graded
• Professionally cleaned and refurbished
• Packaged and distributed to global outreach teams and aid organisations

Whether it’s helping a child in school or an adult gain meaningful employment, every pair of recycled glasses makes a real difference.

Donate Your Glasses at Yarra Junction Optical

We’ve made it easy for you to get involved. Simply drop your old prescription glasses or sunglasses into our collection box at Yarra Junction Optical, and we’ll ensure they make their way to those who need them most.

• No appointment needed
• We accept adult and children’s frames
• Sunglasses with prescription lenses are welcome too

By participating, you’re joining a global movement and helping reduce optical waste in your local community.

Why Every Pair Counts

Many people in developing countries cannot afford or access eye care. Your gently used spectacles could be the reason someone sees clearly for the first time. It’s a small act with a huge impact.

Join us in making a difference – one pair of glasses at a time. Support Sustainable Eye Care with Yarra Junction Optical

At Yarra Junction Optical, we believe in supporting both our local and global communities through accessible eye care, sustainability, and social responsibility. The Lions Recycle for Sight program is just one way we bring that vision to life.
