Born and raised in Albury on the Victorian border, Michael chose not to follow his peers who studied in Sydney, instead heading south for the optometry course at Melbourne University, then part of the Science faculty.
Graduating in 1984, he has spent the majority of his almost forty year career in regional locations including running practices in Albury-Wodonga and Kangaroo Flat. He also has an interest in behavioural optometry, and extensive experience working with binocular vision and children’s vision problems. After a tree change relocation to Healesville, fifteen years ago, he worked there and in Seymour for The Spectacle Site.
After a brief early retirement, he is happily practising optometry again in the delightful country setting of Yarra Junction, mainly on Saturdays. He is married to a speech pathologist, Eva, and they have two adult sons. He enjoys swimming including at The Yarra Centre, and walking their papillon dog daily.
